Piazza Venezia

The square came into being between 1885 and 1911 during the realization of the Vittoriano museum, it was realized by enlarging a pre-existent small square, bordered on the West by Palazzo Venezia. The latter in fact was dissembled and rebuilt further down, close to the San Marco Basilica. Thus Piazza Venezia obtained its characteristic square form of 130 metres by 70 metres centred in Via del Corso.

It was indeed a bright sunny day

On the way to Pantheon we saw this statue of an elephant

The shop that sold all kinds of snacks and eateries. Free trying though.

Street musicians who eventually got shoo-ed away by the patrolling policemen

We stopped for lunch at Mcd situated strategically in front of the Pantheon. I was not feeling hungry, so I just sat there baking under the sun and admiring the gorgeous view in front of me.

Pantheon

The temple of Gods of the Ancient Rome and the best preserved buildings of its age in the world.

The oculus admits the only light in the temple.

p/s: For those who is a fan of the author Dan Brown, this fountain was listed as one of the Altars of Science in his book entitled Angels and Demons.

Fontana De Trevi

The most BEAUTIFUL fountain of Rome and symbolizes the Baroque era. It was completed in 1762 and inaugurated by Pope Xlement XIII. The scenic effect is guaranteed by the small space of the surrounding square which serves as a theatre. The centre status represents Neptune and the side statues symbolise the abundance and the health that the water has always been given to the city of Rome.

Take a closer look

Sad to say I forgot what this is :(

Mercate Traianei (used to be a huge market)

A peek of the Palatino walls from the road side

We were so dejected when we were not allowed to enter the Foro, Romano & Palatino! We actually went to the Colosseum at 9am in the morning only to find out that it was opening at 1pm only due to some worker's assembly! So we left the area and went to the other attractions first. When we reached Colosseum for the 2nd time it was already 1.30pm. We walked towards Foro, Romano & Palatino at 330pm and reached around 340pm to find out that it was opened at 1.30pm and closed at 330pm! The worst part is that we bought the ticket which consist of touring in Colosseum & the trios but we were scheduled to leave early in the morning tomorrow.

To cut things short, we missed our chance of seeing Foro, Romano & Palatino :(
What a waste!

We walked around the Palatino area and I found this path which goes up the hill near to the area.
Haha. And guess what I did?

Camhore lo.

Imprisoned. My hair was still in great shape after walking the whole day. Hehe.

Imprinted

Up next: Colosseum and Rome 2.

Starlight Diner

Asrul and I agreed on having an early lunch on Sunday. He chose Starlight diner as I have not been there before and the reviews given from my other friends were quite commendable. I totally love the diner! It felt so 'American'. It brought back nostalgic memories during the early days of my life when I was in the States for 3 weeks. It also looked like the dining place that they have at the pit stops in the usual American movies. Hehe. I am so going back to the restaurant again and again!

Red.

Taken with Asrul's iphone. Nice pic! :D

He taught me how to take picture using my cam with the sepia mode. Haha. Never explore my camera that much to know its function.

The cute little girl with her bro.
